wiki:HowToCommunityProfileReport

At this writing (May 2009) the version that is in IBIS is still the prototype that Garth programmed for UT. We are going to do some work here shortly that will change things substantially. So you might also want to hold off until October 2009 for things to stabilize.

community_dimensions.xml defines the user choices for type of community

comparative_values.xml defines the state and US values (indicator_view name, category and series) to be used

indicator_profile_sets.xml defines the groups of indicators to be listed in the "select a set" step of the builder page.

GeoCnty.xml is the file that defines which indicator data views get used, and what are the appropriate US and state values to accompany the community value.

To add a new indicator:

  1. Add the indicator to the indicator_profile_sets.xml file, in all desired sets
  2. Add an INDICATOR_PROFILE element to the GeoCnty.xml file (for now, that is all we're using)

[QUESTION: WHY DO WE NEED <INDICATOR_VIEW_NAME> HERE, AS WELL AS IN THE COMPARITIVE_VALUES.XML FILE?]

  1. Add a COMPARATIVE_VALUE element to the comparitive_values.xml file for the state value, and another for the US.

You'll also want to modify this xml file: webapps\ibisph-view\xml\menu\indicator_section.xml to create a link to the CommunityBuilder page from your Indicator menu tab.
