Default graph selection

Description (last modified by Lois Haggard)

On the Indicator Main page, the default graph selection allows the user to select inactive graphs.

It would be great if it showed all graphs, but grayed-out the ones that are inactive. If not that, then just display the active graph views. It might be good to have an instruction for the user that says, “Select from active graphs.”

Also - I just noticed that when I try to leave the Graph List page, if the default graph is not active, it gives me a very nice error message that "The default view name (Demo3.NM_US) must be an active record." But I still found it a tad confusing, now that we have the default indicator view selection on another page. An inactive default view had been selected earlier, it took me a while to realize I had to make it active, then go to the Indicator Main page to select a different default view, then come back to the Graph List page to make it inactive.

I think it would be sufficient to disallow selection of inactive views on the Indicator Main page.

FYI - Kim in UT and I both liked it better the way it was on the old Admin. The user was able to see all the graphs, and whether they were active or inactive on the same page that he/she made the default graph selection. We don't want this to be something that consumes a lot of your time, tho'. There are bigger fish to fry.

11/11/2010 - Lois looked at this, and the issues seem to be fixed in the ibisph-admin-2-rc3.war and ibisph-2-rc4.jar files that Garth release on 11/09/2010.

  • The selection for the default indicator is still on the Indicator Main page, but that's fine.
  • The selection drop-down box does not include inactive indicator views. It now includes only active views.
  • I can see which views are active on the Graph List page.

--BUT--

  • I get some runtime errors on the Graph List page (see attached screenshot image).
  • I am not able to modify the active flag from the Graph List page. I must go to the Graph Specifications page to modify the Graph View active flag.

I will submit a new ticket for these new items (see #102).
