Linux Server Crashing - headless or Batik Version Issue with Map and Agileblox Charts???

Description

Linux Server crashed when doing a birth map and having it converted from SVG to JPEG via Batik. After reading not sure if this is due to the Linux headless enviro or just some random thing that is not related to SVG/Batik? In anycase there were a few messages on the web that discussed Batik crashing the JVM in a linux headless enviro.

Listed below are findings when trying to move from Batik 1.6 to 1.7:

  • SVG Namespace NOTES: the SVG namespace is needed for Opera, firefox, and Batik v1.7. If supplied, then IE with ASV may or may not produce object errors (seen it both ways - very tempramental and inconsistent). With Batik v1.6 or v1.7 with the SVG namespace, a big black box is produced w/o any errors being thrown by Java. With v1.7 but without the namespace it throwns a root element NS error.
  • Agileblox charts are different and work just fine with Batik 1.6 & 7 using script and the SVG DOM so they work with either.
