#141 new Enhancement

multiple and view-specific HP objectives

Description (last modified by Garth Braithwaite)

We think it would be nice to be able to 1) select more than one Healthy People objective per indicator, and 2) have the ability to attach the objective to a specific graph view, rather than at the indicator level.

Some of the Healthy People Objectives are specific to an age group or other population. It would be nice to include information about each of the objectives without having to create multiple indicators.

Ticket #130 is highly related, if not the same.

Sounds like an easy thing - and it is just lots of details and lots of coding changes, testing, and documenting. This needs to be discussed and prioritized as this change is weeks of developer time by the time it is all said and done.

From a developer perspective, we could use a general hierarchical index creator. This could be used for multiple HP type objects, cat indexes etc. For IP's to be assigned multiple HP objectives we'd need a different mechanism. We can't use the current HP2010 indicator field(s) as this is a 1:1 mapping. This new index needs to work and act like the cat index - which I'm proposing to be made into a more generic/general index with a code base and associated XML structure that is the same. The UI needs to change to be more user friendly. I'm proposing that this interface be the actual tree in a dialog with full editing capabilities. This is the same functionality as the cat index interface but with the actual real time collapsable tree interface.

Implementing a generic tree index interface and XML structure allows new indexes to be created faster and easier and is consistent for the view XSLT developer. The users will require less training as the interface is consistent.
