                Cryptosporidiosis is caused by a group of parasites called Cryptosporidium. Both the disease 
                and the parasite are commonly known as "Crypto." Symptoms of cryptosporidiosis generally begin 
                1 to 12 days after becoming infected with the parasite. The most common symptom is watery diarrhea. 
                Other symptoms include abdominal cramps, dehydration, nausea, vomiting, fever and weight loss. 
                Symptoms usually last 1 to 2 weeks in people with healthy immune systems. Immunocompromised individuals 
                may develop serious, chronic, and sometimes fatal illness. Cryptosporidium is one of the most common 
                causes of waterborne disease in the United States. The parasite is protected by an outer shell that 
                allows it to survive outside the body for long periods of time and makes it very resistant to chlorine 
                disinfection. Outbreaks are frequently associated with exposure to contaminated recreational water 
                sources such as swimming pools, water parks, and interactive fountains.
