31In order to provide a consistent grouping and ranking standard, the <a href="https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/index.htm" target="_blank">National
32Center for Health Statistics</a> (NCHS) prepared a
33<a href="query/NCHS113.html">List of 113 Selected Causes of Death</a>.  Fifty causes on that list plus two others are eligible to be ranked as leading causes of death.  For more information about the NCHS rankings see <a href="https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nvss/instruction_manuals.htm" target="_blank">
