        <TITLE>Leading Causes of Fetal Death</TITLE>
<CONTENT>
In order to provide a consistent grouping and ranking standard, the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) prepared a 
<a href="https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/dvs/im9_2002.pdf.pdf">List of 124 Selected Causes of Fetal Death</a>.  Forty-five causes on that list were 
designated as eligible to be ranked as leading causes of fetal death (<a href="query/ICDFet45Rankable.html">List of 
45 Rankable Causes of Death</a>).  NJSHAD's list of Leading Causes of Fetal 
Death is derived from the list of 45 causes by grouping rare but rankable causes as well as unrankable causes into a residual group (#7 in the table below) 
for ease of use and tabulation. For more information about the NCHS rankings see
